My Story....Handmade Badge Reels by The Badge Boutique Co

Hi, I'm Kat, the one woman shop behind The Badge Boutique Co. I started this little business in 2021 from my home in Alabama, with a simple idea: work ID badges are mandatory, but boring badge reels arent!

I'd noticed that everyone on my unit had the exact same plain, black retractable clip the kind that comes free with your hospital ID, gets lost in a drawer, and says absolutely nothing about who you are. So I started making my own. A few coworkers asked where I got them from. Then a few more. That's basically the whole origin story: badge reels that actually reflect the person wearing them, made one at a time, by hand.

Every badge reel is handmade in small batches: not mass produced overseas and dropped into a warehouse. I design, cut, assemble, and quality check each one myself before it ships, which is why you'll notice details other cheap badge reels skip, secure clip attachments that actually hold, retraction mechanisms that don't jam halfway through a 12-hour shift, and designs specific enough to your job that coworkers will ask where you got it.

Who I Make These For

I make badge reels for the people who wear an ID every single day and deserve better than plain:

  • Nurses: from the ER to hospice, GI, and pharmacy specialties, with designs that speak your unit's specific brand of humor

  • Teachers: because keys, hall passes, and IDs deserve some personality too!

  • Medical assistants, radiology techs, CNAs, and retail staff: Anyone whose badge is clipped to them all day, every day

  • Anyone buying a gift: for a nurse, teacher, or coworker who's earned something better than a travel mug.

My Promise

Every design starts with a real profession, a real inside joke, or a real "I wish this existed" moment, not a generic template. If you're not happy with your order for any reason, reach out directly. I read and respond to every message myself, because this is still just me back here making these.
